STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Guitarist Welcomes Addition To Family

June 13, 2007

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD guitarist Jed Simon has issued the following update:

"Just wanted to let you know that Susanna [Jed's wife] and I are proud parents!! Edward Malcolm Simon was born May 29, 12:36 pm at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. And I say that Pennsylvania is the perfect place for little Eddie...it's got SYL in the middle!!

"Holy Moly...what a trip! It's been a heck of a ride! Little Eddie is fine and healthy. You should see how long his fingers are, wow! Maybe he and baby Townsend can start a band some time, haha!

"Susanna is doing great, she is so strong, and I can't believe what I saw during the birth. Amazing. Women have my eternal respect...they already did, but after witnessing the birth, the respect level shot up about 10 billion percent.

"I thought I was going to be squeamish at the sight of all the blood and the birth in general...but it was the polar opposite. I was overwhelmed with feelings I can't begin to explain, so I won't. I cut the umbilical cord on the little fella, and that was super cool, and probably the first and last surgical excursion by yours truly, haha!

"As of right now, we are sleep-deprived, and just getting to know all that's involved in the first few weeks of life. It's getting easier day by day...and I can't wait to start buying this little guy road race sets, model rockets, flying Vs, and motorbikes...well, maybe I want to buy those things as much for myself as I do for him, ha! I'm a big kid at heart.

"We are doing well, and thanks to all for the support, love and advice.

"Musically, everything is still rockin'... ZIMMER'S HOLE is very close to an official announcement, we'll keep you posted on that.

"My TENET project is also doing great, but has suffered a few setbacks...but after waiting so long, a little longer isn't going to matter. There will be some important TENET-related news coming soon...again, we'll keep you posted.

"SYL, as you all probably know, is in bed for what may or may not be the big sleep...I'll just say that regardless of the outcome, I will always appreciate what SYL has done for me, and all the great times that I had, and I miss my brothers...It would be easy to whine about it, but why bother, right? I want to remember it for all the good...and be proud. Time to focus on ZIMMER'S HOLE and TENET, and whatever else good fortune brings my way. Music is life, and I intend to keep on living. I would think that Gene, Byron, Dev and Willy are of similar mind.

"And remember that anything can happen...

"Keep it heavy people.

"Thrash till death, or mist, or vapor, or whatever...and death to posers.

"Here are some pictures for you to enjoy."
